GOLDEN STATE FIBER CONSTRUCTION IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
What you need to know about our construction process!
Construction has officially begun on the Golden State Fiber network! Here’s what you can expect from start to finish as our network is being built:
Mainline Construction
The first step will be installation of the main fiber line along your street. This is the backbone that will serve all homes in the area.
To reduce disruption, crews will use directional/missile boring:
- Small access holes (bore pits) will be dug every few homes
- Directional boring will travel underground between bore pits
- This creates a pathway beneath lawns, sidewalks, and driveways
- Conduit will be installed, and fiber cable will be placed inside
What you may notice:
- Small, temporary holes in the ground along the public utility easement
- Construction equipment and crews moving along the street
- Utility markings identifying existing underground lines
This method avoids continuous trenching and helps preserve surfaces and landscaping.
Service Activation
After construction is complete, the network will be prepared for service.
- Fiber lines will be connected (spliced)
- Fiber lines will be tested and activated
- Homes will be designated as serviceable
There may be a short delay between construction completion and service availability while testing and splicing work is finalized.
Home Connection (After Sign Up)
Once you sign up for services, a dedicated fiber line will be installed from the street directly to your home.
- A small underground conduit will be installed from the box near the street up to your home
- Fiber cable will be placed within that conduit
- Low-impact boring methods, similar to the mainline construction work, will be used
Any small areas affected during installation will be restored.
In-Home Installation
The final step is activating service inside your home.
- A technician will install an Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
- Your connection will be tested and activated
- Note: You will need to provide your own WiFi Router
Once complete, your home will be connected to high-speed fiber internet.
